Las Vegas sits at the crossroads of the Interstate system in the intermountain West. Interstate 15 carries millions of vehicles a year between Los Angeles and Salt Lake City; Interstate 11 and U.S. 93 connect the valley to Phoenix across the Hoover Dam Bypass; U.S. 95 runs northwest toward Tonopah and Reno; and the 215 Beltway circles the valley through some of the fastest-growing suburbs in the country. Why Highway Crashes Are So Severe
Speed changes everything. A collision at 65 or 75 miles per hour involves several times the energy of a city-street crash, and the injuries reflect it: multiple fractures, spinal cord injuries, traumatic brain injuries, and fatalities at far higher rates. The Corridors We Know
- I-15 south toward California. Weekend and holiday surges between Las Vegas and Southern California produce notorious congestion — and severe rear-end and multi-car crashes, especially near Primm, the state line, and the stretches through Jean and Sloan.
- I-15 north toward Mesquite and Utah. Long, fast, desert miles where fatigue and speed do their work.
- I-11 / U.S. 93 to Arizona. The Boulder City bypass and the Hoover Dam Bypass bridge carry heavy truck and tourist traffic on grades and curves that demand attention.
- U.S. 95 northwest. The route toward Tonopah and Reno sees high-speed rural crashes, including some of the valley’s most devastating wrong-way and head-on collisions.
- The Spaghetti Bowl and the 215 Beltway. Dense merging traffic, short ramps, and constant lane changes where I-15, U.S. 95, and I-515/I-11 meet — a steady source of serious collisions.
Your Claim After a Highway Crash
Highway cases often involve out-of-state drivers and insurers, multiple vehicles pointing fingers at each other, and questions about who is responsible in a chain reaction. Nevada’s comparative negligence rule (NRS 41.141) allocates fault among everyone involved, and you can recover as long as your share does not exceed 50 percent. Sorting that out requires prompt work: obtaining Nevada Highway Patrol reports, locating witnesses, preserving vehicle and camera data, and identifying every insurance policy in play — including your own uninsured/underinsured coverage.
